Stick Around for Martial Arts Monday
As long as there is student interest, Scott will be leading a martial arts class for all enrolled students on MONDAYS AFTER SCHOOL. Scott has trained in Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido, MMA, and Baguazhang over the last 20 years and holds a black belt in Aikido. Watch the clips below for an idea of what Aikido looks like and how it can be used.

Hey everyone! Welcome back to school in the new year! We have a few things going on after school that can help get you back in the groove, so check it out!
- Diploma Exams begin this week so make sure that you are doing everything you can to help out around the school (people need lots of focus to write these big tests!)
- Boxing is starting up again on WEDNESDAY after school this week. Come out or talk to Scott if you are interested!
- MARTIAL ARTS MONDAY is starting TODAY! All students and staff are welcome to come and learn a little bit about some traditional Japanese and Chinese martial arts (all fitness levels welcome). Talk to Scott if you are interested but unsure. Also, watch this video of an Aikido master teaching the first technique!

The Work Plays Schools Program engages young workers through lively, entertaining and thought-provoking professional theatre productions that inform young workers of their responsibilities and rights to a safe and healthy workplace. When? Today! Oct. 18, 2:15-3:15pm Where? Native Studies Room.
Be Creative; Win a Great Book! The contest to win a copy of Hero Type by Barry Lyga rages on. Submit an original story or piece of artwork that can be displayed on the website. If you do, your name will be entered into a draw to win a signed copy of this book! All entries will be displayed on the website! Contest closes on October 27 and the winner will be awarded the prize on October 28!

Daily Announcements – October 4
Aikido: Today @ 3.45 in the wellness centre. Aikido is a Japanese martial art that is awesome for self-defense! Check it out in the video below!
SWEAT LODGE: Following unfortunate delays this past month; we will definitely have a sweat on Wednesday, Oct. 6/10. Because the sweat will be in Saddle Lake, the van will leave at 8:40AM and will return by 3:00PM. Interested students should sign-up ahead of time with their homeroom teachers. Don’t wait as there is only room for 10.
