Pipe Ceremony:

There will be a pipe ceremony today in the Native Studies Room @ 230PM.  All students and staff are encouraged to attend.

 

YMCA Youth Exchange:

Student participating in the YMCA Youth Exchange have a compulsory meeting to attend in the Video Conference Room on Tuesday, Feb 26th in Blk 5.

 

Pink Shirt Day

Feb 27th is pink shirt day: The first 35 students to sign a pledge that Wednesday against bullying, will be given a pink shirt to wear for the day. Schools across the country will participate in  similar ways.

Daily Announcements – Holiday festivities and ceremony

Do you like to PERFORM? If so, talk to MAVIS about playing guitar, singing, spittin’ rhymes, reading poetry, dancing, or kickin’ butt (all with a Christmas-y feeling in your heart).  Performances will take place on December 22 after our Holiday Lunch!

Holiday Candlelight Ceremony – On Monday in block 3, BSEC will be offering a moment of quiet reflection where students can light a candle for a loved one.

Holiday Pipe Ceremony – Also on Monday (this time @ 2.30 PM), our Elder Dave LaSwisse will be leading a pipe ceremony in the Native Studies room.  All are welcome to attend.

Government-Issued ID: Next Session is tomorrow @ 1.15.

 

Student Finance: The next deadline for Student Finance forms is October 3rd. Please see Brandy in Student Services if you have questions.

Sweat – There will be a sweat on Monday, May 16th. If you are interested in attending, please sign-up with your teachers. The van will leave at 9:30 AM and will return to the school by 2:45PM. There is only room for 10 students so don’t wait to sign-up.

Housing List! The new housing list for May is now available in student services and online on the BSEC website!

Are you interested in a career with the trades? Would you like try out different skills found in trades? Join Boyle Street Education on a field trip to Skills Canada Alberta. Ask Tim, Neda, or your Options teacher to signup or for more info. Trip Info: When: Wed. May 11th Time: Leaving the school at 12:45pm, returning to the school at 2:30pm Where: Edmonton Expo Centre, Northlands

Need a way to build up your resume? Head out to the 2011 Festival Volunteer fair at City Hall on Thursday, May 12 from 11:00 am – 7:00 pm. Ask Tim or Neda for more info or check out the website: http://volunteeredmonton.com/

Need ID? The next ID session with Roxanne will be Wednesday May 11 after lunch.

WHMIS Ticket? Students who would like to get their WHMIS ticket please contact Tim.

6 week parenting class at the school starting May 6th! The parenting class with Kara Family Resource centre is starting tomorrow after lunch in the Native Studies room. Registered students who complete all 6 classes will receive school credit!

BSEC students amaze @ FAVA

Three BSEC students presented some wonderful film work at the 2010 Global Visions Film Festival.  Their families, friends, and staff were on hand to enjoy their creative expressions and we even learned a thing or two in the process.  Well done, all!
