The U of A is having their annual round dance this Friday (Jan.27) in Main Gym (2nd floor) of the Van Vliet Centre (the building attached to the Butterdome). The pipe ceremony begins at 5:30 with feast and dance to follow until 12 am. All staff and students are welcome!

SKI TRIP: The annual school ski trip is taking place on Friday, February 3rd. Please sign-up with your core room teachers (Math, Science, Social, English). The first 9 students from each of those classes will receive first dibs at going on the ski trip if attendance, achievement, or school citizenship, are not an issue. Remember, if you have intentions of coming on the school trip, you must dress warmly on the day of the trip.
Aaaaand…if you catch the snowboarding bug after we go, come out for a lesson on Thursday, February 9th with Rich and at some other available staff members. They will be taking the first 8 students to sign up in Scott’s office to Snow Valley for SNOWBOARD LESSONS (Which means that you will be there in a small class all learning the same thing).

Hockey Contest: Like hockey? Free food? Great seats? On Monday Jan.16th, here at BSEC we will be starting a contest which will give 8 students a chance to attend an Oilers game on Feb. 2. We will be watching the game in a luxury suite which has been donated by Servus Credit Union. All you have to do, is check the BSEC website each day and correctly answer a question, then your name will be entered into a draw.
The Healthy Aboriginal Network: We have promoted this resource in the past, but some new work has been done by The Healthy Aboriginal Network (http://www NULL.thehealthyaboriginal NULL.net/). This website offers several different comic titles dealing with healing in the aboriginal community. One of the newest works has been turned into a motion comic and is shared below. Check it out and talk to Scott if you are interested in having some more of these great titles in and around the school.
